The Sheldon Souray saga took an interesting twist Monday evening as Edmonton Oilers’ general manager Steve Tambellini issued a statement letting the media know that the disgruntled defenceman would not be attending training camp.
“In response to the recent reports surrounding Sheldon Souray, the Edmonton Oilers informed him last week that he will not be attending Training Camp,” Tambellini said in a statement.
If Souray was in fact informed by the Oilers of their decision last week, then his appearance earlier in the day at Rexall Place seems extremely odd. Souray was on the ice and skating with teammates for the first time since slamming the organization and demanding a trade at the end of last season.
